Documents Requirements for Teen Road Test:

STUDENTS WHO OBTAINED LEARNER'S PERMIT VIA THE TEENS DRIVERS ED PROGRAM MUST MEET THE FLOWING REQUIREMENTS:

· Age Requirements: 16th birthday or after

· A valid learner license: available on the day of road test (six months and older)

· Proof of Completion for Driver Education: (total 46 hrs.)

32 hours in classroom Education

7 hours behind-the-wheel and 7 hours Observations.

· Obtain DE-964:

Showing you have completed a Minors Driver Education Course

Issued by the driving school or online course provider or Parent Taught course provider

· Verification of Enrollment (V.O.E):

Obtained from High School, expires 30 days from issuance (required for student age under 18 only).

· Impact Texas Teen Driver Program (ITTD) certificate): Offered online, printed certificate required on the day of the Road Test.

The certificate of completion must be dated within 90 days prior to taking the driving test.

Documents Requirements for Adults Road Test :

A valid learner license: available on the day of road test

Impact Texas Adult Driver Program (ITAD) certificate): Offered online, printed certificate required on the day of the Road Test.

The certificate of completion must be dated within 90 days prior to taking the driving test.

Learner permits Document Requirements for Adults:

  • Application for the issuance of a driver license

  • U.S. Citizenship or, if you are not a U.S. Citizen, evidence of lawful presence

  • Texas Residency

  • Proof of Identity

  • Social Security Number

  • Texas Driver Education Certificate (ADE-1317) 6 Hrs. driving course

  • Evidence of successfully passing the driver knowledge exam. (If you have not taken this test during the classroom portion of driver education, you will take it at the driver license office

To get a learner's permit in Texas, you must:

  • Be at least 15 years old

  • Complete the Impact Texas Teen Drivers (ITTD) program

  • Make an appointment at a Texas DPS

  • Bring the following forms:

    • Proof of identity, such as a certified birth certificate

    • Proof of Social Security number

    • Proof of US citizenship

    • Proof of Texas residency, such as a parent's paid utility bill, voter registration card, or mortgage statement

    • Texas Driver Education Certificate (DE-964)

    • Verification of enrollment and attendance in high school

    • Application for Driver License form (DL-14A) with your parent or guardian's signature

  • Have a parent or legal guardian present at the appointment
